Neuromodulation Solutions

Neuromodulation therapy is a cutting-edge approach to managing chronic pain by using gentle electrical stimulation to target and block pain signals. It offers patients a unique advantage: you can try it first before making a long-term decision.

The Trial Phase: Before a permanent implant is considered, patients undergo a simple, outpatient trial that lasts up to 7 days. No incisions are required, and the device can be worn comfortably at home while continuing normal activities. If the trial produces at least 50% pain relief and noticeable improvement in daily function, then—and only then—is a long-term implant considered.

Permanent but Flexible: While designed to provide lasting relief, neuromodulation implants can be removed if necessary. As technology evolves, many devices can even be updated with firmware—similar to a smartphone—without requiring additional surgery.

As one of our mentors, the late Dr. William O. Witt, often reminded patients: “It’s the only spinal surgical technique dedicated to reducing your pain that you can try ahead of time without surgery, and it’s the only neurosurgical technique that can be adjusted or even removed later if needed.”

Our neuromodulation services include:

  • Bowel and Bladder Neuromodulation Therapy: A therapy that regulates nerve activity to improve bowel and bladder control.
  • Permanent NeuroStimulator Implant (Cervical, Thoracic, and/or Lumbar): A long-term option to manage chronic pain and improve daily function.
